What is WebTrigger?
WebTrigger is a Windows app that lets you control your PC from any phone, tablet, laptop, or browser on your local network. You create actions on your PC, then use WebShells to display and trigger those actions from another screen.
Is WebTrigger a Stream Deck replacement?
WebTrigger can be used like a Stream Deck, but it is designed to be more flexible. Instead of a fixed grid of buttons, WebTrigger gives you customizable browser-based interfaces called WebShells. A WebShell can be a button deck, dashboard, launcher, media controller, system monitor, or something completely custom.
Does WebTrigger require extra hardware?
No. WebTrigger uses devices you already own, like an old phone, tablet, laptop, touchscreen, or wall-mounted display.
Does WebTrigger work over the internet?
WebTrigger is designed for local network use. That means your phone, tablet, or browser connects to the PC running WebTrigger while on the same network.
Does WebTrigger use the cloud?
No. WebTrigger is local-first. Your actions and controls stay on your own PC and network.
What are WebShells?
WebShells are customizable interfaces for WebTrigger. They decide how your actions, buttons, dashboards, and live data appear on screen. The same actions can be used across different WebShells without rebuilding them.
What are actions?
Actions are the things WebTrigger can run or control. An action might launch an app, open a website, run a script, trigger a hotkey, send an HTTP request, open a folder, control media, or perform a system command.
Why can't my phone or tablet connect?
Make sure your PC and device are on the same Wi-Fi/network, WebTrigger is running, and your firewall is not blocking the connection. If your router separates devices using guest Wi-Fi or client isolation, your device may not be able to see your PC.
Is WebTrigger safe?
WebTrigger is designed to run locally on your network. For best results, only use it on networks you trust and avoid exposing it directly to the public internet.
Can I make my own WebShell?
Yes. WebShells are built with standard web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. If it can run in a browser, it can become a WebTrigger interface.
Can I request a feature?
Yes. Feature ideas are welcome. Use Bolt's Feedback Form or email support with your idea.
Can I report a bug?
Yes. Please email support with what happened, what you expected to happen, your WebTrigger version, and any steps that reproduce the issue.
